Heroes of Midhgardhur
The captial of the Sviar, home of the Great Hof, the great temple of the Northern gods. Traditionally a home of the Ynglingar tribe, but currently ruled by a council of jarls and godhar, not a particular king or tribe. The last king of Uppsalir, Ingjaldur Hinn Illradhi (Ingjaldur the Ill-Ruler) died in 7th century N.Y., and since then, no king has claimed lordship of the Sviar. Or rather, some have claimed it, the most recent being Bjorn Ironside (Bjorn Ragnarsson), Jarl of Munso, but cannot enforce the claim.
Uppsalir is one of the few truly great cities in the North, with stone walls and buildings as well as the more traditional earthen ramparts and wooden structures of the North. It is also a strange mix of deep religious conservatism and open cosmopolitanism, with offerings and treasures brought from all over Midhgardhur, at which the peoples of the North gather to marvel. It is also one of the few Northern cities with much intellectual life – the colleges of the godhar of the North are here, as well as some of the largest collections of galdramennn.
