Solsdagur, the 29th of Goa, 901 N.Y.
The next morning, still on the island of Munso, the heroes made a plan to recover from the debilitating weakness caused by the cairn linnorm’s breath. The heroes pooled their money to pay for the services of a high-ranking cleric and the diamond dust required for the prayers of greater restoration. Then, Kasimir von Schosse took Athelstan and teleported in several hops back to Yulianopolis. Once they arrived there, they sought the assistance of House Arkonides in acquiring the help of a chaplain of the Hierarchy capable of casting greater restoration on Athelstan, lecturing them all the while on the “fact” that their “heathen” gods were apparently incapable of restoring him. Once restored to health, however, Athelstan became capable of casting greater restoration once per day himself.
Athelstan made sure to visit some churches of the Hierarchy and mention that perhaps Dyovis should be sending aid to the North to deal with the threat . . . but the priests of the Hierarchy seemed unimpressed with his wild, heathen rantings. That night, the heroes stayed at the the home Kasimir had bought, with Kas luxuriating in his feather bed, and Athelstan deploring the decadence of the city.
Meanwhile, the heroes on Munso were able to follow the trail the cairn linnorm had left through the underbrush back to its lair, a cave in a small cliffside not far from the barrows. They found a vast treasure hoard, of course, and thus were able to replenish some of the money they had expended to treat the weakness caused by the linnorm’s breath.
Manadagur, the 30th of Goa, 901 N.Y.
On this day, Kas was able to teleport Athelstan in several hops back to Munso. On this day, Athelstan was able to restore Caelrath to full health, and the next day, he was able to restore Bergsveinn Farisson.
Thorsdagur, the 2nd of Einmanudhur, 901 N.Y.
By this date the heroes had returned to Burh with their treasure, fully restored to health, and made ready to set sail for the coast of Noregur. Thorgill Haraldsson warned them to expect guardians on the coast.
Sjaundidagur, the 11th of Einmanudhur, 901 N.Y.
On this day, the heroes and their fleet of 7 ships arrived on the coast of Noregur. They saw a strange green fog bank drifting quickly towards them, against the wind. Thorgill Haraldsson said that this was probably one of the guardians of the coast his father The One King had set in place. Estrid Freysteinn was able to disperse the fog using her necklace of storm lure, and assuming the form of an air elemental. The heroes were able to investigate one of the fishing villages along the shore to make certain the common folk were unharmed. Then they rethought their plan.
Deciding that they needed a base to train their army for the coming conflict, they set sail for Hjaltland.
Thorsdagur, the 23rd of Einmanudhur, 901 N.Y.
On this day, the heroes sailed into port at the main settlement on Hjaltland. The guards escorted them to the hall of Jarl Torf-Einarr Raganvaldarson. The jarl listened to their story, as told by Hakon Finehair the Skald, then explained that while Hjaltland was currently free from the control of Noregur, he was worried about the repercussions of the heroes launching an all-out war against a settlement on the coast of Noregur from his islands. Athelstan was able to persuade him to let them set up a camp on the northernmost tip of the main island to train and outfit their troops, but promised that the main attack would not be launched from there, but from a Forward Camp on the shores of Noregur itself.
Estrid Freysteinn hallowed the site of the camp and protected its inhabitants with a death ward. They then began the business of equipping and training their armies.
Freyjudagur, the 24th of Einmanudhur, 901 N.Y.
On this day was held a great Council of War on Hjaltland to plan for the midsummer attack on Torgar Island. Thorgill Haraldsson described Torgar Island and the situation thereon. The Council decided to split their armies into four forces – a huge militia force capable to assaulting the town on Torgar Island, two medium armies to support that main one, and a medium army to follow them up Torgahottur. Thorgill is paying for his own troops, but from this point forward, the armies are costing the heroes about 1500 gp/week. Estrid sold off the Norrani steel ingots the party had been hoarding in order to pay for the armies.
Estrid Freysteinn tried to scry the King of Storms, but failed. She continued to try this for the next several days, but always failed, so she concluded that he must be protected from scrying, somehow.
Over the next few weeks, the heroes began to set up plans for a Forward Camp on the coast of Noregur in Halogaland. Estrid Freysteinn used wild shape to assume the form of a narwhal, and swam to the coast over the course of three days, and scouted it out. She found a spot in the forests, and made plans for the rendezvous with Jarl Grundi. She sent Gersemi, her peregrine falcon, to take a message to Jarl Grundi to meet them on the northernmost tip of Brunney just before midsummer.
The first couple of days of the month of Harpa, Estrid used windwalk to take Caelrath and Kas to the site for the Forward Camp, so that they could familiarize themselves with the place well enough to teleport there whenever necessary. The land around the site was throughly explored so that the camp would be safe, and one of Estrid’s druidic followers was left there at all times to guard the spot.
The next few weeks, between the 2nd of Harpa and the 14th or so of Skerpla, were spent drilling the armies for the conflict to come on the 21st of Skerpla, at midsummer . . . .
