Manadagur, the 22nd of Skerpla, 901 N.Y.

The heroes drank from the Fountain of Heroes, which triggered their Mythic Ascension. Athelstan assumed the Path of the Hierophant, Bergsveinn Farisson and Estrid Freysteinn assumed the Path of the Guardian, Caelrath and Kasimir von Schosse assumed the Path of the Archmage, Neferata assumed the Path of the Trickster, and Hakon Finehair the Skald assumed the Path of the Marshal.

The heroes prepared to go up the stairs to the lair of the White Wyrm. Estrid Freysteinn used wild shape to become a dire ape. They found the stairs blocked by magical webs, but Kasimir von Schosse was able to use a wand to dispel them. The stairs led them to a frigid room with walls made from ice. Two ice statues stood in the room, and began to speak (with magic mouths), warning the characters to “go back, before it is too late!” Estrid Freysteinn smashed the statues.

The chamber beyond the first contained a deep pit, crossed by an ice bridge. The heroes decided not to risk crossing it. Estrid Freysteinn used her mythic power to partially wild shape herself to have the wings and talons of a skergipur, then flew her comrades across, though the was buffeted by a magical gust of wind.

Once on the other side, the heroes were presented with the choice of going left or right. Neferata sent her shadow companion to scout ahead. The shadow reported that to the left was a lair of razor-sharp ice terrain, at the far side of which was the true lair of the White Wyrm. To the right side was a chamber where a frost giant was waiting in ambush.

The heroes debated for a little while, then decided that they should take out the giant before tackling the dragon. Estrid Freysteinn summoned an owlbear and sent it raging into the giant’s lair, and Neferata sent her shadow companion as well. The giant made short work of the owlbear, but that made enough of a distraction for the heroes to rush into its lair and attack.

While the heroes were fighting the giant, the White Wyrm came in behind them and used its breath weapon on the party. Caelrath responded by using hold monster on the dragon, freezing it in place for several rounds while the heroes blasted it with fire spells.

Meanwhile, the giant was ferociously battling the heroes in melee, even as Neferata continually flanked and sneak-attacked it. She was eventually forced to rely on her hamingja to act out of turn and shadow jump away to avoid death. The giant killed Bergsveinn Farisson, but Athelstan was able to use his mythic power of relentless healing as a Hierophant to bring him back the next round.

Caelrath finished the dragon off using his mythic power as an Archmage to cast a powerful delayed-blast fireball, and Estrid Freysteinn used her hamingja to reshape a mythic flame strike to hurt only the giant (and avoid killing others of her party). Kasimir von Schosse finished the giant with a scorching ray.

Before camping for the night, Bergsveinn Farisson used a sending spell to notify Thorgill Haraldsson of their progress . . .
